A Therapist's Perspective: Therapy Isn't About Having the Right Words

Hi, I'm Kristin Holland-Pitts, a Licensed Professional Counselor.

I've spent years sitting across from people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. One thing I've learned is that most people don't come to therapy because they're "broken." They come because they're carrying more than they were ever meant to carry alone.

As both a therapist and someone who is neurodivergent, I know firsthand that our minds don't all work the same way. Some people process their thoughts out loud. Others need silence before words come. Some can describe exactly how they feel, while others only know that something doesn't feel right. None of those experiences are wrong.

That perspective has shaped the way I practice therapy. I don't expect you to have the perfect words or a clear starting point. Therapy isn't about giving the "right" answers—it's about creating enough safety and curiosity to begin asking the right questions.

In this blog, I'll share reflections from the therapy room, practical tools, and thoughts on topics like grief, trauma, relationships, neurodivergence, and emotional well-being. My hope is that whether you're a current client, someone considering therapy, or simply curious about mental health, you'll find something here that helps you feel a little more understood.

Because healing doesn't begin with having everything figured out.

It begins with feeling safe enough to be yourself.
